Award History

In 2002/03 when I was asked to give an annual District Governors Award, I wanted an award that would help the Lion’s Entities and the District Administration account. At the start of my governor’s year our District budget was cut in half because of the dwindling membership and administration fund. The Helen Keller Award was introduced at the first Cabinet Meeting. ~ The cost of the award is $500.00. Administrative for District 35-I: $150.00 (Award, engraving, shipping & handling) District ordering award: $100.00 Entity selected would receive: $250.00 (Recipient or donor selects which Lions entity receives the donation) The Results This award has enabled District 35 I’s Administration Fund to designate monies to Membership Awareness and Public Relations. Since 2003 141 Awards, Entity Donations $31,750.00.  Lion Cathy Walton

In 2022 Lion Cathy turned over the administration of the award to her Lions Club, the Wesley Chapel Lions Club.  The Lions club has committed to continuing her legacy by making the award available to all in the multiple district.  The monies received are kept separate from club funds.
